Fate of family members

My father Julius died in October 1989 a few days before he was 89 years old. My father was a known stamp collector in the area of Chicago. On weekends he went to collectors markets in Chicago and neighbor towns. My mother accompanied him every time and my brother an me accompanied them when ever it was possible.

My mother Erna died in November 2002 at the age of 96 years. My mother Erna lived for a few years after my father´s death at home, until a doctor told us, that she had to go to an old peoples home, where she could be seen after.

My brother Wolfgang went to High School College in the USA until he graduated in 1966. He joined the U.S. Army in 1966 and served a year in Aschaffenburg (Germany). Then he served a year in Vietnam during the war. After the military he worked for an American Airlines as a ground crew worker until he retired in 2005. Wolfgang died in December 2012 at the age of 69 years.

We had little contact with my uncle Albert, his wife Irma and my grandmother Nanni. We only know that they went to Holland after us. They lived with Irma´s family and then where deported an died in concentration camps. [Albert Oster died 31st January Auschwitz, Irma Oster-Fekete died on the 12th of October 1942 in Auschwitz, Nanni Oster died on the 12th of October 1942 in Auschwitz] (32).

My aunt Herta fled Germany in 1938, after we had left Colombia. She left Germany in company of her Uncle Julius who had a men´s clothing store in Düsseldorf. They also went to Colombia, where they lived for two years after which they received permission to emigrate to the USA. They lived in Chicago. In Chicago in the mid 1940´s Herta married Arthur Baruch a German immigrant. Herta died after an operation in 1953.
